Candy Cane Trap
thingiverse
Candy canes are indeed lovely, but they shatter with minimal force. To safeguard one, try encasing it within a protective box printed specifically for this purpose. Begin printing the box first, then carefully place the candy cane inside once it's complete. As you print the final touches, the recipient will be able to admire the enclosed treat without risk of damage. It is highly unlikely that they can successfully remove the candy cane from its secure container without causing harm to both items; however, this would ultimately be their own responsibility. If a potential issue arises with an axe or power tools being brought into play, consider these steps: 1. Initiate printing on the box. 2. Position the candy cane onto the heated print bed and let it rest for about an hour. This will allow you to gently bend it, making it easier to insert into the box. 3. As the printer nears completion of the vertical walls, carefully insert the candy cane while it continues to print. I successfully did this by inserting the cane during one of the longer stretches of wall printing without interrupting the process. 4. Complete the caps and add some decorative color with a gold pen for a touch of elegance. 5. Present the gift to your friend. 6. Profit from the joy you've brought. Throughout this project, I also discovered that minor cracks in candy canes can be repaired by placing them on a heated printer bed for an hour or two.
