I fabricated this project last year with my trusty MakerBot 2X printer. The results were impressive - everything came out flawlessly. At the time, I had to employ a raft in order to get the build job done properly, but after some trial and error, I believe I can now print it successfully without any assistance. Don't even think about using supports, or you'll find yourself wasting hours taking them off.
