The CandleStick Lamp, a creative fusion of MagLite Solitaire flashlight and ambient lighting, offers an ideal illumination for activities such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. Additionally, it functions as a mood light for more personal reasons. A video showcasing this lamp can be found at http://youtu.be/yzXO49ADmdM. It was inspired by Bioluminescence's Glowstick Candelabra, which uses glow sticks to illuminate. This lamp is part of an exploration of combining readily available light sources with digital manufacturing techniques like 3D printing and laser cutting. Some related lamps available on Shapeways include the LED Candle, LED Pendant, LED Candelabra, and LED tealight holders. To create this Maglite Lamp, print out its three parts and purchase a Maglite Solitaire flashlight. Gently push the flashlight into the base-part so it protrudes from the top, ensuring a snug fit that allows easy battery replacement. Place the cup-part on top of the flashlight, ensuring the lens is flush with the lower ledge. Lastly, insert the candle-part into the cup-top. Twisting the cup counter-clockwise activates the light, which initially disperses widely before focusing for maximum illumination within the candle-part. Note that this lamp was designed and printed using an UP! printer, so adjustments may be needed based on your specific printing experience. Share your experiences to help improve these instructions.
