Candle and Vase Holder
prusaprinters
I started learning Onshape CAD and thought this would be an excellent model to try out.It is based on a design by Eva Schildt called Constella. A candle and vase holder that lets you shape it the way you want (In a constellation, maybe?).This design is infinitely expandible, with the image containing five cups, but it can be expanded to as many as you want.If you want to use tea candles I can only recommend LED candles as they do not generate heat.InstructionsFor 3 candel/vase holders print:3x cup1x start_bar1x bar1x end_bar1x start_bolt3x boltFor 5 candel/vase holders print:5x cup1x start_bar3x bar1x end_bar1x start_bolt5x boltFor 10 candel/vase holders print:10x cup1x start_bar8x bar1x end_bar1x start_bolt10x boltPrinting orientationI suggest you turn all the bars on their side for an easy print. Alternately right-sid-up with supports for a more consistent look from all angles. Print the bolts with the round part facing up. A brim can be beneficial here for added bed adhesion. The cups might need support for the first couple of layers. Alternately print them upside down with a brim or a raft if you feel conferrable bridging up to 37mm.AssemblyInsert the start_bolt into the closed hole on the start_bar. For the rest of the bars, insert the bolts sandwiching two bars between the bolt and the cup. The end bar uses a regular bolt.If you do not achieve a press-fit, add CA-glue, epoxy or hot melt glue to the bottom hole of the cup/start_bar. If you do this, ensure you do not fix the bars together as they need to rotate.DimensionsThe cup has a diameter of 40mm, allowing a small vase or glass tube to fit inside. The cup is chamfered on the bottom, giving it a base diameter of 37mm, allowing a standard tea candle to fit snuggly. The hole and bolt have a built-in tolerance of .2mm.InsertsI will update this model with inserts for regular candles and a printable vase when I find some more time.
