CANcentric Loose Filament Holder

CANcentric Loose Filament Holder

I designed wings to attach to a metal can to keep the filament from sliding off when printing loose coils using the included spool holder on my Original Prusa i3 Mk2. It features a circular cutout in the base to stay upright on the arm of the original spool holder. To use this spool holder accessory, remove both ends and empty your 14.5oz can. Then print out the model and simply snap it over the lip at the edge of the can - making sure to be careful not to get cut on any sharp spots around the edge of the can. I've had no issues with only a single wing as long as I always wrap the end fed into the extruder on the side with the wing, but you may want to print two. At this point, you can easily drop a sample coil of filament onto the can and put the can on the normal spool holder, making sure to seat the cutout on top of the standard nubs that you'd rest your spool on so it doesn't roll off.
