CanBot - Sculptures with 250 cans
myminifactory
CanBot is a Framework that connects and combines 250ml cans in all possible ways, inspiring a new art genre with limitless possibilities. With this framework, you can build sculptures, furniture, or anything your imagination desires using 250ml cans. To demonstrate the potential of CanBot, I created a CanBot sculpture showcasing various connectors and serving as an inspirational piece. The intention was not to coincidentally resemble any famous thinker, but rather to thoughtfully design a piece that sparks creativity. To further test the capabilities of CanBot, I've included draft designs for other combinations, such as a CanTable and CanClock. These designs will be developed at a later time, allowing users to explore even more possibilities. The only limitations are those imposed by your imagination. By using 250ml cans, M4x30 screws, and nuts for hinges, you can easily create unique structures that rival the simplicity of Lego bricks. To facilitate printing, I've included a file from Autodesk Fusion 360 used in the design process. If you encounter issues with tolerances on your printer, you can adjust the settings within Fusion 360 and export the STL files again. Additional images provide detailed descriptions of the various connectors and their intended uses. Happy printing, and I look forward to seeing more inspiring creations! Dr. Make P.S. Based on the CanBot design, I published an article offering tips and tricks for optimizing 3D designs for printing, which may be of interest if you're designing a new object or looking to improve existing designs.
