Canadian Maple Leaf Eclipse Viewer
thingiverse
Being based in Canada has its perks, but one major drawback is that NASA doesn't produce anything specific to our province or country. Frustrated by the lack of a nice, flat model of Ontario or Canada, I came up with this eclipse viewer using an old Toronto Maple Leafs sign. Designed specifically for the MP Select Mini, it will fit perfectly on a 120 x 120 mm build plate. To use it, simply face away from the sun, hold the plate about 1-1.5 meters off the ground, and you'll see the sun projected onto the ground through the 5mm hole. Try taking a photo that includes the plate, your shadow, and the view of the sun reflected on the ground - I definitely plan to do so! I'll be uploading a picture of it in action tomorrow, so bear with me if it's a bit late. Check out this link for more information: https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/2d3d-printable-pinhole-projectors
