A long-forgotten treasure from Key West, Florida - an intact can of "A. Granday's Clear Green Turtle Soup" from 1930. This prized delicacy was once a staple product on the island, shipped to every corner of the globe between the mid-1800s and the 1970s. The Armand Granday family pioneered the soup cannery business from 1890 to 1910, but successive owners kept the Granday label alive until Key West's turtle industry finally came to an end in 1971. Unfortunately, the turtle soup trade nearly drove the Green Sea Turtle to extinction, leading to a pressing need for modern conservation efforts. Today, the fascinating story of this unusual business can be explored at the "Key West Turtle Museum."
