I designed the table top of my camper van to be foldable, making it adaptable to my changing needs by allowing me to expand or shrink its size as required. The type of table top I created is also frequently used on Marine Yachts, where it serves a vital function. However, when deployed, the 'wings' of these tables often require additional support to prevent them from sagging or collapsing. To address this issue, I utilized 15x15x1.5mm aluminum bars to provide the necessary structural reinforcement. Additionally, I 3D printed various components, including endcaps with a 1mm raised edge on one side, U-shaped 'glide' brackets, and rounded end caps that eliminated sharp edges and improved overall safety. All of these parts were printed in ABS plastic.
