Camera tripod to PVC 1/2" pipe bracket
thingiverse
Human: This is a bracket to join a piece of 1/2" PVC to a camera tripod. Camera tripods typically use 1/4"-20 bolts and the center vertical hole is sized to fit a coupler found at my local hardware store for $1. Using a washer on the 1" bolt causes the entire assembly to be under compression, helping resist the torque of whatever you attach to the bracket. Note: Print orientation matters here! See notes. To assemble: Place the 1/2" PVC pipe section inside the bracket. Depending on your print settings, this may result in a very tight fit. That's good, but it may require using some percussive encouragement to get the pipe centered in the bracket. Use the bracket's coupler hole as a jig to drill out a 1/2" hole in the PVC. Screw a 1/4"-20 bolt into one end of the bolt coupler with a large washer under it. Insert the coupler into the vertical hole and through the PVC. If your print has any slop in it, insert short screws into the two screw holes on the side. You may also wish to cement the coupler in place with some hot glue or similar. Screw the tripod into the open end of the coupler. Profit! Print Settings Printer: MiniMax Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution:.4mm if possible, but lower is acceptable. Infill: 20% Notes: This shouldn't be too picky, but you do want to print it so that the thinner hole is perpendicular to your build plate. This will allow the bolt to greatly increase the strength of the print.
