Camera Tripod Mount for Smartphone

Camera Tripod Mount for Smartphone

thingiverse

This little mount attaches securely to the back of a smartphone case, allowing it to fit perfectly on a standard tripod. (The pictured tripod is specifically designed for motion pictures.) Instructions: To get started, make sure your case has a flat back and edges, such as one you can download for free or purchase online starting at just 99¢. Carefully glue the mount to the back of the case, aligning it flush with the bottom edge (a hard case works best; silicone cases may not hold the glue well). There's a recess on the bottom edge that accommodates the raised border often found on commercial cases. Additionally, you'll need a 1/4" - 20 thread machine nut that fits standard tripod screw mounts. The nut should fit snugly into the hex recess, but if it doesn't go in easily, try using a bolt to help guide it through. Simply insert the bolt from below, thread the nut onto it, and then pull it in (this ensures the nut goes in squarely). If your 3D printer produces a print that's too tight, consider increasing the size by one or two percent. The only critical measurement is the recess for the nut; if it's loose, you can glue it in place if needed. Before attaching the phone to the tripod, make sure it's securely inserted into the case. Then, simply bolt everything together and enjoy happy snapping! BY THE WAY… I'm thrilled to share my designs with you, but if you do end up printing this mount and love the result, I'd be grateful if you could return here and leave a small tip in appreciation!
