Camera Solar Film Filter Holder

With the upcoming total eclipse of the sun in the USA, I was eager to find a quick-fit solar filter that would be easy to use during totality. You don't have much time to mess around when the moment arrives! A friend gave me a sample of the Baader AstroSolar Safety Film 5.0 to try out, and here's what I came up with. The film holder consists of two parts: the mount that connects to the camera and the hood that fits over it. The film is trapped between these two parts and then pulled tight to give a relatively smooth finish - perfection isn't necessary! I also designed covers for both ends of the filters, as they'll be traveling around in my case beforehand. The lenses I've designed mounts for are: * Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-200 in Micro 4/3rds fit * Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM in Canon fit * Super Albinar 500mm f8 in OM fit (I got this one for £20 on eBay - it's a great find, with excellent optics) The Lumix and sigma mounts fit onto the existing hood bayonet fitting, but can be a bit tricky to get smooth. The albinar mount is friction-fit. The key here is that this must be a one-handed fit and remove as soon as the eclipse reaches totality - you want the filter off your camera ASAP! And when the moon moves away, you'll need to put it back on or risk damaging your sensor and maybe even your eye! **DISCLAIMER:** I'm not responsible for bad photos or any damage caused by improper use of this filter. You MUST test the filter before using it to ensure there's no damage to the film - hold it up to a light bulb first, then check with the sun before attaching it to your camera. NEVER look directly at the sun, especially if you're using magnification! Only use the correct solar film! I highly recommend getting the bundle pack with film and glasses from Baader-Planetarium: http://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/solar-observation/astrosolar-viewers-and-film/bundle-astrosolar-safety-film-and-solar-viewers.html
