Camera Rotator
thingiverse
This will be a one-axis camera rotation system. Two of these can be combined for Pan & Tilt operations. The parts listed below are for one rotator. Pan & Tilt operations will require twice the parts: 4 608 inline skate bearings http://amzn.to/1TkSVri; 1 5070 thrust bearing is used behind the 70mm disk : http://amzn.to/1TkT6Tt; 12 m3 nuts : http://amzn.to/1TkU9Ry or http://amzn.to/1TkU9Rz; 8 m3 bolts with Nyloc nuts for bearing support: http://amzn.to/1TkUA4w. For the motor mount I am using a 5mm Nema 17 motor, and I have attached it to an 8mm shaft that is supported by two bearings. The bearings are held in place by m3 bolts with nyloc nuts. I still need to look into what closed loop GT2 belts are available and re-print the top mount and test fit everything. Depending on the belts I may have to either make minor changes to the length of the top and bottom mount or add an idler. If I'm going to add an idler, I will probably first order the belts and then test fit everything to figure out where the idler needs to be. I need to see how strong the 70mm plate is with the 8mm shaft... I may have to change it to a 10mm bearing or instead use steel shafting and cut, drill, and tap m3 threads into it for mounting. I might make an alternative 70mm plate that does that... not sure yet. I also need to update the renderings but did upload a couple of images of the bottom plate with pulleys held in-place with some of the 8mm supports.
