To capture time-lapses and monitor a Solidoodle 3 printer while using OctoPrint/OctoPi, I purchased a Creative Live! Cam Sync HD 720P Webcam (http://amzn.to/PEtRg6). For a compact setup, I designed a low profile mount for the camera. I appreciate the sleek, exposed look of the camera, though I considered adding a case around it. After printing both parts, disassemble your camera, saving all four screws. Assemble the camera board holder using the provided screws, attaching the circuit board to the rectangular board holder with two smaller screws. If desired, use the cut-out for the rubber microphone holder or remove it altogether. Attach the mounted camera to the board and secure it with one of the larger screws. Finally, connect the USB cable to your OctoPi computer or device and enjoy monitoring your printer!
