Camera Pylon Mount for seadoo
thingiverse
This is a camera mount for the wakeboard / wakeskate pylon on newer Seadoo PWC. I needed a mount for our Insta360 One X2 camera and couldn't find what I wanted so I created this one. Pay attention to the notes further below on how to print it so that it is stronger. You slide the base onto the pylon from the back or front and then slide the SidePlug on to keep it on. There is a hole running through the base and sideplug that you need to put a zip tie through to keep the plug from coming out and if you put it around the pylon handle near the top, It will keep it from spinning too (see picture). I recommend putting the included cap on the threads if you keep it on without a camera so that nobody gets hurt scraping their skin on the threads. If the camera is down low I think it will hold very well and not break based on my experience. That is assuming that the material you make it out of can hold up to the heat of the sun and not melt. If you use an insta360 one x2 and extend the selfie stick out, I have tested that in very calm water and it has held up for me using PLA material but I would not trust it in more demanding water conditions. Always tie a rope to the camera and your seadoo and put a floating device on your camera in case the camera mount breaks as a safety. Having the selfie stick up all the way, there is a lot of leverage on the top part of the seadoo pylon. I don't know how strong the top part of the pylon is to know at what point it could break so keep that in mind before attempting to use this. In my experience with the insta360 one x2 camera extended with the selfie stick, it hasn't broken on me in very calm conditions. The mount is designed to not use supports as they can cause some fitment issues. You need a dialed in 3d printer with material that has reduced curling when printing extreme overhangs. PLA+ in my experience handles overhangs better with reduced curling. Keep in mind that PLA can melt in very hot conditions. I recommend a lighter color PLA for that reason (white for example). You will need a 3/8" male to 1/4" male screw adapter for tripods to go into the top of the mount. Just do an Internet search for 3/8" to 1/4" adapter tripod. I used a 3/8" for the part that goes into the mount that I created to have more holding power in the plastic material. The top part is 1/4" that will stick out where you mount your camera. This was tested on a 2021 Wake 170 Seadoo. base - Main part (print it with the top (smaller part) on the plate) sideplug - Part that slides in cap - A cap to use when camera is not on Cura Settings =========== Wall Thickness: 2mm Top/Bottom Thickness: 1.6mm Layer Height: 0.2 mm Infill Percent: 15% Infill Type: Gyroid Connect infill lines: enabled Horizontal Expansion: -0.09 Initial Layer Horizontal Expansion: -0.14 235 degrees Makergeek dark as night black Supports: No My personal printer optimization to handle outer layers being slightly thicker.
