Camera Mounting Clamp

Camera Mounting Clamp

thingiverse

This Thing is a mounting bracket for attaching a webcam to various objects such as flatscreens, tables, desklamps, or any other surface that needs it. Clamping of objects up to 45mm is possible, but it's recommended to place a rubber pad on the stationary clamp side to prevent slipping off its base, which reduces the maximum clamping thickness depending on what you use. The Mount offers two degrees of freedom for adjusting the camera. I've uploaded a draft of a sleeve to hold a Microsoft LiveCam Studio webcam, which can be secured by clamping the sleeve with a M5x35-40 bolt and a fitting nut. In my case, the camera fits snugly into the sleeve without needing a retaining bolt. The sleeve might get optimized in the near future since I designed it while half asleep and there's room for improvement, but it works for now. The Button on top of the cam is covered by the sleeve (in the current version), although there are holes for the mic. I plan to add mounts for other items like flashlights or other cams in the future if they seem useful. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Modified Huxley Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: AFAP Infill: 60% Notes: Printed in PLA with 0.4mm layers for the C-Clamp and Camera Sleeve, 0.25mm for small parts. Everything is oriented for FDM printing. Post-Printing Print each part once or n-times if you need to mount n Webcams (ideally a natural number). Vitamins for one complete mount: 2x M8 Nut 1x M8x65 Bolt (Shorter bolts are okay for thicker objects) 1x M5x25 Bolt (For fixing cam sleeve to swivel) 1x M5x35-40 Bolt (For retaining camera in sleeve) 4x M5 Washers 2x M5 Nuts (Flat ones are okay) 4x M3x6-8 DIN912 hex socket bolts 4x M3 Nut Assembly: The assembly should be self-explanatory, but I'll explain it anyway. Mount the swivel on the C-Bracket using the swivel-retainer plate and the M3 screws. If your printer is well-calibrated and the swivel has too much play, put a thin spacer under the swivel knob (folded paper, cardboard, or washer). Mine works fine without any post-print cleaning. Press or glue one M8 nut into the clamp pad. Insert the other M8 nut into the hexagonal recess in the bottom of the C-Clamp and screw in the M8 bolt to secure it. Screw the pad onto the M8 Bolt until it doesn't go further in. Mount the Cam sleeve using the M5x25 bolt, M5 nut, and two washers (under the head and the nut). Slide the clamp into the sleeve. (Optional) Put the remaining M5 bolt through the holes in the sleeve and carefully clamp the camera using the remaining Nut and washers.
