Camera mount for Sweex USB camera on Vertex K8400
thingiverse
An assembly to use my Sweex USB web camera with the Vertex K8400 3D printer is in progress. Initially, a plan was made to utilize only the camera mount and base components - however, it became apparent that the camera was positioned too closely to the printer, resulting in an unacceptably limited viewing area of the build. This was not sufficient. A set of three adjustable arms was added to provide greater flexibility in adjusting the camera's angle - now any desired perspective can be achieved with ease. However, this increased height revealed a stability issue due to the narrow base. A stable solution was found by incorporating a dock for the base, effectively addressing the problem. The final step remains: resolving the lighting issues. Currently, white PLA is being printed onto a thoroughly black build plate, creating an excessive contrast that overwhelms the Sweex camera's capabilities. There is no dull moment in this project. Printer Settings Printer: Velleman Vertex K8400 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 25 to 40% Notes: Most parts were printed with a brim, except for the dock. Infill levels ranged from 30 to 40% for most components, while the dock was set at 25%. Post-Printing Minor filing and polishing ensured proper fitment of the components. A suggestion is made to add grips to bolts and nuts for easier manual fastening - a helpful modification can be found on Thingiverse. Design Notes Please note that designs are configured according to deviations produced by my printer and materials. STEP source files have been provided, allowing reconfiguration of tolerances as necessary.
