Camera Mount for 2020
thingiverse
This is a camera holder that attaches directly to 2020 aluminum without needing any additional parts except for two $2.30 webcams and some zip ties. It was designed specifically to hold the cheapest webcam I could find on eBay. I've been using OctoPrint with my CHIP computer to control my 3D printer and wanted to add a camera, so this was the cheapest way to do it. The camera isn't high-definition but it's enough to show me that my printer isn't burning up. It has a pretty limited field of view but it works for most of the printing I do. It fits snugly into my printer's frame and leaves room for future modifications. If you'd like to know how well your printer fits, just leave a comment or send a message and we can work together to benchmark your printer's accuracy and improve future designs. You'll need to disassemble the camera and discard its original casing after attaching it to your printer. Once the camera is apart, pass the USB cable through a small hole in the back cover. I used some heavy snippers to cut through the back cover and free the cable. Two 'standard' 4" zip ties are used to secure the back cover and two 'standard' 8" zip ties are used to attach the base to your printer's chassis.
