UPDATE: Thanks to community feedback I have added additional sized inserts for different phones (so there's more of a chance of a snug fit for your phone, but a looser fit is okay long as it doesn't fall out!) as well as a version with holes for plugging in your phone while in use! I have not test printed the power port version yet, but the provided print orientation should still be optimal!

Teleprompters are super useful for filming scripted videos, but often very expensive to purchase decent ones. Since I am regularly making YouTube videos that are scripted, I found I needed a teleprompter quite early on, even though I couldn't really afford one! After trying out several different designs, this one is my favourite!

If you find yourself doing anything scripted in front of a camera, whether it's YouTube videos or virtual conferences, having a teleprompter makes EVERYTHING so much easier. Now you can get one without spending a ton as well!

Everything should be printed in the provided orientation and in black filament for best results. A matte black works best but any black will do. I recommend 0.3mm layers with a 0.4mm nozzle for strength and speed but any layer height should work. Any sagging of overhangs that occur at the very top/front of the model can simply be trimmed or cleaned away after. The mount can be either just press fit (if tight enough) or glued in place into the holes on the back of the body. I recommend gluing for safety of your gear, but check the fit of your lens adapters first. The tolerances are tight; scale back in the XY in the slicer on the Mount piece only if you are having trouble getting it to fit.

You'll need flat fit lens adapters for square filter holders to use the teleprompter; I recommend a cheap kit like this to get the adapters, and you'll end out with bonus filters as well! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fotover-Graduated-Filters-Cleaning-accessories/dp/B08397TN82/ref=sr_1_24?keywords=square%2Bfilter%2Bkit&qid=1637318005&s=electronics&sr=1-24&th=1

The inserts are only required if you have a smaller phone that you wish to use as your teleprompter 'screen'. Without the inserts it's been tested with a Samsung S21 Ultra + case, which fits snugly, and with the inserts it can safely fit a Samsung S9 + case.

I recommend PromptSmart as a great phone app with awesome teleprompter capabilities, but there are lots out there! For the 'glass', the clear front of any old 4"x6" picture frame will do. It does NOT need to be special glass, or even actual glass, to work! I use a cheap piece of thin acrylic from a £3 picture frame and it works great. Thinner tends to be better, and I do not recommend going thicker than 3mm.

To use, simply set up your camera on your tripod with your chosen lens, and attach the appropriately sized lens adaptor to the front. Slide the teleprompter onto the lens adapter and make sure it's sitting snugly and securely. Make sure your 'glass' is clean, and place your phone in the front cradle with your text on screen. Press record and you're good to go!

Please note that this teleprompter has only been tested up to a 16mm wide lens without aberrations in the corners. I cannot guarantee that you will not see parts of the teleprompter in the corners of the screen with a lens wider than 16mm.
