Similar products can be purchased online for approximately $25. I designed a model that includes a case surrounding the tensioner, making it easier to put on and take off. However, this resulted in a larger size than some of my smaller lenses could accommodate. Additionally, having the ability to easily remove the hex nut from the tensioner allows quick adjustments to be made for different sized lenses. This design is intentionally minimalistic yet effective. Some focus or zoom rings have limited resistance, which necessitates the use of a counterweight. The GT2 belt can be purchased inexpensively on Amazon, and the bolt/nut combination costs less than $1 at Home Depot. Unprinted parts include: - A 6mm wide GT2 belt (approximately 15 inches per build) - One 1/4" x 4" carriage bolt from Home Depot - One 1/4" HEX nut from AAB, available at Home Depot - Two M2 5mm hex screws or equivalent tapered 5mm screws - Two M2 washers (optional) - Fifteen pennies or equivalent washers for the counterweight (if needed) - One M3 4mm hex screw Instructions: - Create a small hole in each end of the belt, then thread it through bb_Base.stl. - Insert an M2 screw into the poked holes and secure it to bb_Tensioner.stl. - Feed the carriage bolt through bb_CapBase.stl. - If desired, apply hot glue around the carriage bolt while it is seated in bb_CapBase.stl. - Attach bb_CapLid.stl to the top of bb_CapBase.stl using super glue. - Thread the carriage bolt through bb_Tensioner.stl. - Place a HEX nut on the carriage bolt and screw it about an inch. - Insert the carriage bolt into bb_Base.stl. - The HEX screw fits into bb_Tensioner.stl. Counterweight Instructions: - Place pennies/washers into bb_CounterWeightCase.stl. - Secure bb_CounterWeightLid.stl to bb_CounterWeightCase.stl using a screw or glue. - bb_CW2.stl is a smaller counterweight that must be glued in place. To use, simply place the device around a camera lens at the zoom or focus ring and tighten.
