I designed a custom adapter that securely attaches a solar viewing filter to the sun shield of my camera, allowing for safe observation of the sun. The adapter's back piece features a tapered diameter of 98mm at its widest point, gradually narrowing down to 96.5mm, ensuring a snug fit on the sun shield. This particular design fits perfectly with the Canon 70-300mm sun shield ET-65B and a standard 100mm film, but it can be easily scaled up or down to accommodate other camera models with some experimentation and trial runs.
