A camera dolly and rail system that can support a DSLR or other video gear. The system uses 608 series "skateboard" ball bearings and standard hardware found at any home improvement store. Rails and legs can be made out of any 1-inch OD tubing or pipe (3/4-inch steel EMT is cheap and works well). Rails and legs are easily constructed from various materials, making them versatile and easy to use. Update August 16: A motor mount has been added, and the overall design has been refined to improve fit for 3/4-inch EMT. The previous version was too loose, but this updated version provides a snug and secure fit. Update August 21: A rope pulley has been added, which fits 5mm motor shafts perfectly. Features on the end block allow for easy attachment of rope. This setup can be used with a motor to pull the carriage along the rails.
