The University Library received a remarkable boxwood écorché and miniature ivory skeleton in 1591 as a gift from John Banister, a renowned London surgeon who delivered lectures to the Barber-Surgeons' Company and published several influential treatises. This detailed object was created through a collaborative effort between The Cambridge University Library, Dr Suzanne Paul (Keeper of Manuscripts and University Archives), Maciej M Pawlikowski (Chief Photographic Technician), and Prof Dominic Powlesland (Affiliated Scholar, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research). A low-resolution version of the model contains 50,000 triangles.
