Cambered vertical axis wind turbine - Mk3

thingiverse

The third version of the Vertical Wind turbine has been upgraded to Mk6, available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16504. The previous Mk5, printed by imitation, did not perform as well. Key updates in the new variation include options for solid blades and adjustable hole diameter in the blade. For improved performance, forces are applied inwards to counteract centrifugal forces of the turbine, increasing torque while reducing speed. This design may also enable self-starting due to lifting forces on the blades. The negative space reinforcement system is used with low fill settings for enhanced strength. Top and base supports have been improved, along with support and support-less atomic wing sections for balanced placement. However, it's recommended not to print this turbine as Mk6 is now available. Print top and base sections, as well as at least two atomic wing sections, and assemble on an M8 threaded rod. Secure the sections using nuts, and reinforce with glue or flexible steel rods like bicycle spokes. Enjoy harnessing forgotten energy in the wind!
