Cam latch for boxes
thingiverse
This is a cam latch, commonly used for securing boxes. The design features M4 screw holes spaced 15mm apart across each latch and 20mm between the set of holes for each latch half. 10/23/17: A minor update was added to prevent first layers from sticking by incorporating a chamfer on the outermost pivot. Everything else prints easily, but the first layer sometimes requires extra effort. 06/03/18: A major redesign (V2 variants) was implemented to accommodate larger boxes. The updated design boasts increased tolerances between parts, a more robust cam action, and thicker arms for enhanced strength. Tolerances between plates are now 0.4mm, and between pivots are 0.2mm. The camlock arms were positioned to minimize overlap and prevent plate seizure. If the latch doesn't release after printing, check printer flowrates as a possible solution. Recent adjustments have dropped mine to 0.9% in Cura. Printing this design on an old Wanhao i3 Plus was effortless once flow rates were optimized.
