Calvin and Hobbes Wagon
thingiverse
I'm embarking on my first forays into transforming a picture into a 3D printed masterpiece. One of these models boasts a solid foundation with every detail from the original image intricately embedded within it. I halted the print process mid-way through to switch from white to black. The other model is merely the standalone drawing, modified to accommodate wheels and eyes on its frame, minus the surrounding landscape and swirling patterns. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Select Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm How I Designed This: I began with a picture from a book and utilized Photoshop to thicken the lines and convert it to monochrome. Next, I converted the image into vector graphics format. Then, I imported the DXF file into Inkscape, saving it as a DXF in the process. After that, I opened the DXF file in Solidworks and rectified over 250 erroneous lines and gaps. One model received a backing and voilà!
