Calliper Connector Plug
thingiverse
I came across this article a few days ago: https://hackaday.com/2011/01/12/hold-fast-and-max-features-on-a-digital-caliper/ I loved it. I wanted to make the hack even more efficient, so I designed a plug that could replace the calliper connector cover. I'm also uploading the Fusion source file in case someone wants to make some adjustments. It fits one of my callipers perfectly but doesn't fit my older ones. I used two tiny strips of phosphor bronze hacked from some connector, soldered thin wires onto them, drilled holes through the plug, glued the strips into the base of the plug inside those little rails, guided the wires through holes, soldered them onto the pushbutton, and glued the pushbutton on top of the plug. I plan to use an even smaller pushbutton when it arrives from China. The pushbutton shortens the second and fourth pad of the connector. See the Hackaday article for more details. You may also try shortening those pads with a piece of wire to see how the callipers behave.
