A vernier caliper is an essential tool in any economy, regardless of the maker. To calibrate a printer or measure a finished model during 3D creation on a sample, it's a necessary thing to have. However, there's a significant drawback to electronic measuring devices: their reliance on batteries that won't last forever. The battery itself isn't very reliable, and since the compasses don't completely shut off but only dim the screen, it doesn't last long at all. A huge minus is that there's no auto-disconnect feature, so if you forget to turn it off, you'll be in trouble. On the other hand, there are some pluses. But as always happens, I needed to measure something urgently, and the battery ran out of power. After getting into this situation again, I decided to come up with a solution once and for all. The task was not to ruin the compasses but to save its original form and return it to normal without any serious consequences if possible. If I could buy a new battery, that would be ideal. So, I simulated the casing and made a replica, but then I realized I had a problem - where to find two suitable small screws. The family unscrewed two screws from the compasses, but they were too short for my construction. Then I remembered that similar small screws are used in HDDs. I took them from there. One of the original screws on the compasses fastens the bay cover for the battery, and the second screw can be stored to avoid losing it. I also used a small lamp that I bought at a hardware store called "All on 50" or something like that, which cost only two hundred rubles. In fact, I tried to explain how to do this using pictures as well. I'm confident that the issue is resolved and I won't need to change the battery for a year or more, even if I forget to turn it off. There was also an idea to deliver a connector and read out the indications on my computer, but the connector wasn't available, so I put that task on hold for later.
