The design in question is for an extension or add-on accessory for a caliper, known as a radius finder. This tool is specifically engineered to measure circumferences that are beyond the reach of the caliper's existing jaws, due to their length constraints. The central feature of this extension is its ability to accurately determine and display the actual radius of the measured circumference directly on the caliper's indicator.
