Caliper Battery Saver

I spend most of my time creating 3D designs and models, but one tool stands out as an essential part of my daily routine - my trusty calipers. I use them constantly, and when a fresh battery suddenly stopped working after about a month, it left me wondering why. After some research, I discovered that many digital calipers drain the button cell battery even when they're turned off. This revelation changed everything for me. To avoid this problem in the future, I took out the battery and only put it back in when I needed to use my calipers. However, this new habit became a hassle as I started losing the battery or its cover in my cluttered workspace - an frustrating experience that made me want to find a solution. For weeks, I stared at my calipers, searching for a way to fix this issue without resorting to complicated methods like soldering irons or hot knives. Those solutions seemed too involved and weren't something I wanted others to have to deal with either. It wasn't until I examined my calipers from a different angle that I discovered the answer. By removing the smaller port (data output port) at the top, I found a direct hollow passageway leading straight to the battery itself. If I created a thin sheet of plastic to fit between the contact and the battery, it would completely disconnect the battery from any contact points.
