California single shot FIXED FROP-IN magazine AR-15 5.56, BOLT CATCHER, Quick Remove

thingiverse

This is the California-compliant single shot magazine for AR-15 which is legally considered a fixed magazine. • Fully compliant to California's fixed mag definition (Mar 2022), so you can keep/have all the "evil features" • Drop-in quick install in 10 seconds. No modification to your gun required, no tools. • Quick remove. If you'll move to free state or your are in life'n'death self-defense situation, it can be removed in less than 10 seconds with no tool. • Single shot. IMHO not a big deal, since most gun ranges allow you 1 shot per 3 secs (and again, 5-10 seconds to remove) • This version have a bolt catcher ** WHO NEED IT ** • Californians, who want to have all the evil features without any modification to a gun and fast reverse. • California visitors ** WHAT IF I DON'T WANT BOLT CATCHER ** Bolt catcher will need few extra seconds to install and remove, if you don't need it - print and use just body part (RECOMMENDED) OR use old https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4782110 **SPRINGS NEEDED (and piston's length)** I've used 7mm (0.22'') OD, 50mm (1.6'') Length, 0.8mm wire size compression spring from this source - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076LRDCQT/ and 25mm piston worked best for me. 40mm length is also fine, just use 30-35mm piston. 0.5 and 0.6 wire like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CVBBQPT/ is **weak**, but works with 35mm piston. Choose piston length right for your spring. ** INSTALL ** • pull a rear pin • separate upper and lower • press the magazine release button and drop in this magazine from the top • close upper and lower, push rear pin back • from the bottom, throw in piston, spring and base and fix it in place with round pin Once you've dropped-in this mag, you are safe and can have "evil features" ** REMOVE ** Same approach in reverse order. Base is designed in a way to lock on round pin. To remove round pin push it hard or press base from the bottom and push the pin slightly. Look, if you have a 3D printer, I believe you can understand how it works from the model itself, right? ** WARNING ** According to California law, to AVOID classification as Assault Weapon your ASSEMBLED (ready-to-fire) gun need to be in any of these configurations (or both, if you wish): • no "evil features" like pistol grip etc. a.k.a. "featureless" • fixed mag (this item belongs to this category) So, make sure that whenever you upper and lower **are closed and in ready-to-fire-configuration**, your gun is NOT AW. So, if you REMOVED this mag: • keep upper and lower separated OR • install magazine back BEFORE closing upper and lower OR • remove "evil features" BEFORE closing upper and lower OR • install another mag lock mechanism BEFORE closing upper and lower ** PRINT SETTINGS ** 0.22mm quality is ok Body - infill 20%, 7 layers top-bottom-sides recommended, supports with more than 46 degree overhang Other parts - infill 100%, supports with more than 46 degree overhang I used PLA ** WHAT ABOUT AR-10? ** See https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5459910**
