Caliburn Variant: Reverse Engineering the SAB
thingiverse
I wanted to put an end to all the debate about the SAB versus Caliburn by finding out just how different the SAB really was. To do this, I overlaid the SAB concept onto the original Caliburn design and discovered that most of the work went into the trigger catch area. The reason for this is that the catch area is now much closer to the trigger, making it a major focal point. Everything else is simply a matter of adjusting the spacing or making some cosmetic changes. Since I don't own a Caliburn myself, and was too lazy to figure out where the springs are exactly, the .step file I uploaded is purely conceptual. I'm confident that the spacing is accurate, but when it comes to the spring and assembly, someone with more knowledge will need to build upon my work if this design is going to be used. The rails and butt also aren't complete as seen in the screenshot, which is why I didn't upload any useful STL files. Captain Slug and SAB deserve full credit for their contributions.
