I’ve spent a total of around 5 months Frankensteining this project together. This was my first modeling project specifically for 3D printing and while some elements may be a bit janky, the final product is something I am very proud of. This project would not have been possible if it weren’t for other great creators who freely shared their work with me.

GunsForYou

Creator of the Colt Walker 1848 3D printable on the website cults3d.com. This model was my first huge print and taught me alot about 3d printing and really laid the foundation for my projects as the internal functions of the Caldwell Conversion Uppercut are heavily based upon their STL files. They very graciously allowed me to include some of their stl files in my project download for free, so a please send them a huge thank you!

If you are interested in printing the Colt Walker 1848, I highly recommend their project page:

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/colt-walker-1848

They also have multiple other high quality 3D prints available on Cults, which you can find here:

https://cults3d.com/en/users/gunsforyou/creations

Blockster9 (Kieran Murray)

An incredibly talented artist who has uploaded a variety of very high quality models and renders of firearms and Star Wars inspired models. Kieran readily shared their obj files of the Caldwell Conversion Uppercut which I used as heavy reference for my project.

Please check them and their work out on on Artstation and Sketchfab

https://www.artstation.com/blockster9

https://sketchfab.com/Blockster_9

Do also check out their incredible render of the Caldwell Conversion Uppercut here:

https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/caldwell-conversion-uppercut-a7fceef1ddb4445caf29b9ebb455652c)

DreamEndless

Creator of the Walker-conversion project on Thingiverse. A design that modifies the Colt Walker 1848 to accept magnum rounds instead of being a breech loaded design. I used some elements of his Cylinder and Reciever as the basis of my project design.

You can check out their conversion kit here:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4724737

Donmegel

Creator of the Walker Hand Spring Combo, a very nice quality of life optimisation of a couple of stl files. You can check it out here:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4897231

Printing

All stl files are orientated in what I believe provides the best mix between ease of printing and part strength. In prototyping parts, the Receiver and Base Pin support the majority of the props weight and are prone to breaking at a few key points, I therefore recommend printing these parts at 80-100% infill at least.

As this prop relies on friction to keep many of its pins in place, some of the parts are intentionally a tight fit. Some sanding may be required.

Other Requirements:

Sandpaper or chisel

Super Glue (Optional but recommended)

Print Settings I used: Cura settings for Creality Ender 5 Plus - Standard Quality

Layer Height: 0.2mm

Print temp: 200 C*

Retraction: Yes

Support: Yes

Material: PLA

Wall Thickness: 0.4mm

Print Speed: 80.0 mm/s

Cooling: Yes

Build plate adhesion: Optional but recommended for the Barrel and Stock

Infill: As this is a working prop I would recommend an infill of at least 40%. With the Receiver, Base Pin and all stl files labeled COLT WALKER at 80-100%. The images you see on this project page have all its parts at 100% (mainly because I was drunk with power and leads to a satisfyingly heavy prop)

Other Recommended Prints:

Hunt Showdown Terminus, DeSteiner Model 1887 - mechanically working Winchester prop gun

https://www.printables.com/model/30394-desteiner-model-1887-mechanically-working-winchest

Hunt Showdown Knife by MightyShrub:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5191371

Hunt: Showdown Quad Derringer / Sharps Bulldog/ Sharps Pepperbox by AdamWiddow

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4209702

Hunt Showdown - Poison Bomb - Cosplay by AdamWiddow

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4666101

Hunt: Showdown, romero hatchet by weerwolf

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5381335

Replica Russian M1895 Revolver by awatkins1984 and Hunt: Showdown - sileneced nagant by weerwolf

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3142916

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3845154

CAUTION: NOT A REAL GUN!
