I always dreamed of creating a CAD model of a lightsaber, but it seemed like an insurmountable challenge. The intricate, cylindrical shape and sharp details of the saber were intimidating for a complete beginner to CAD modeling. However, studying the concept of rotating a curve around an axis in AP Calculus sparked an idea that this same principle could be used to precisely create cylindrical objects like lightsabers. As it turned out, after modeling the outer curve, I was able to rotate it around the axis in Fusion 360 and instantly produce a perfect cylindrical shape that matched the original design exactly.
