Not long ago, I was printing when I noticed light patches appearing in my filament, then becoming brittle and breaking. It wasn't until then that I realized moisture had weakened the filament, and keeping it dry was the key. This solution came about while trying to find a round cake container the right size for a project, but I was inspired by the Rigibot dry filament holder and decided to use a cake container to keep my filament dry, thanks to Canaboost. I've since added a version 2 of this design, featuring a rotating nozzle and a female plug that can be left on while printing. You can see photos of these improvements in my other projects. I'm extremely happy with the results of the v2 model - as prints grow larger and wider, the rotating motion prevents moisture from entering, ensuring dry and flexible filament for high-quality prints. Cheers, 3ddeano Print Settings: Printer: Cocoon Create Rafts: Yes Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 50% Notes: Drilling a hole through the center of the cake container's clear side and adding a filament extrusion hole requires precision - I used a 32 mm hole saw on a piece of timber to avoid splitting the plastic. Two rubber washers are placed inside and outside the cake container, pushed over the filament spool holder, which can be purchased at my local hardware store where I buy nuts and bolts. A hot glue gun was used to secure them in place, but there are four holes available for alternative fastening methods.
