Cairn Liath is an Iron Age broch situated atop a rocky outcrop, commanding panoramic views of a vast coastal expanse. Brochs are imposing stone towers or roundhouses exclusively found in Scotland's far north. They were built and utilized between 600 BC and 100 AD. This broch boasts a circular interior measuring 10.2 meters in diameter and robust walls exceeding 5 meters in thickness; there was one entrance passage leading to the structure. The surviving walls reach a height of 3.66 meters, although the building originally stood at an impressive height with additional floors. A staircase built into the wall provides access to higher levels. The third Duke of Sutherland cleared this broch in 1868, and some of his antiquarian excavation finds are preserved in the National Museum of Scotland. The site is under the guardianship of Historic Environment Scotland.
