Cage for Arctic Breeze USB Desk Fan
thingiverse
I use the little Arctic Breeze USB Desk Fan for different purposes, e.g.also for keeping the 3D printer step motor underneath the extruder cool (very helpful to avoid warming up TPU filament making it even softer in the extruder, lowest fan speed more than enough). I like these little vents as they are sold for less than 10€, have a stable base, speed control and a bendable "goose neck" to direct the air stream. The only problem was that I placed the little vent between the control unit and the printer of my CR-10, amid of all the cable strings hanging around. Therefore I decided to design a snap-on cage for the vent to avoid cables to accidently hit the propeller. Can be mounted and removed in a second. 2020-02-13: Minor update (V2): move the cage ring 1.5mm to the front 2020-02-13: Yet another minor upgrade (V3): instead of only moving the cage ring to the front, I made it a little wider to have good protection in front and back. And I made the borders and rakers of the ring thinner to save on material. Despite the wider ring I'm now down to only 20g filament :-)
