My kids wanted a "monkey" and chose this over a low-poly donkey kong, so I sat them in my lap and let them watch me go through removing the extra shells, reducing the number of triangles, resculpting parts that needed work, putting a new base on him, just overall cleaning him up. He is printing now, if I get a chance I will post a picture. I used Netfabb to close the holes and get the file to a single shell by removing the two floating ones, then bounced it into Meshmixer to resculpt some areas, then back to Netfabb to check the file again, then to TinkerCAD to add a new base that was a lot cleaner, then back to Netfabb again to check it all out and be sure I was happy with it and it was going to be printable.
