Caer Bentir Porth y Rhaw - Chwefror 2019
sketchfab
Porth y Rhaw, a complex non-defensive enclosure in southwestern Pembrokeshire near Haverfordwest, is situated on a headland. The presence of a cliff and the shoreline has affected large parts of the fort and it is believed that nearly three-quarters of it have been lost. What remains today are two strong corner towers connected by a series of trenches and ditches with two southern entrances. Excavations have shown that the fort was built around Early or Middle Iron Age times and that people lived here during the Roman period as well. As part of the CHERISH Project, we will investigate Porth y Rhaw carefully to learn more about its history before even more of it is lost.
