The fossilized tibia of a toothless dinosaur known as a caenagnathid lies before us, discovered in the vicinity of Drumheller, Alberta. This remarkable find sheds light on several distinguishing characteristics that set apart the leg bones of various meat-eating dinosaurs from one another. Thinly sliced sections reveal the intricate cell structure of the bone, indicating that it grew at an accelerated rate and was likely only a year old when its life came to an abrupt end. Gregory Funston, a researcher with the University of Alberta, is responsible for this groundbreaking discovery. To learn more about his work, visit www.gregfunston.com.
