The Cadillac Sixteen was introduced by Cadillac as its top-of-the-line vehicle in January 1930. Sales suffered greatly with the outbreak of war in Europe, leading to an abrupt halt in production after a mere ten years on the market. Only 4076 models were ever produced over this span. An overwhelming majority were manufactured during 1930 alone, prior to the full-blown onset of the Great Depression that ravaged economies globally. In 1929, Cadillac broke ground by putting into mass production America's first car powered by a sixteen-cylinder V-type engine, setting a pioneering precedent in automotive innovation that would inspire others.
