In St. Peter's churchyard, numerous intriguing and diverse funerary monuments can be discovered. Among these, perhaps the most captivating and frequently visited is a "cadaver stone" taken from the tomb of Sir Edmond Goldyng and his wife Elizabeth Fleming. This striking monument is built into the churchyard wall, east of the current building, and depicts two cadavers encased in shrouds that have been partially unsealed to reveal the remains of the tomb's occupants. According to Helen M. Roe in her 1969 publication for the Royal Society of Antiquities, a likely date for the tomb appears to fall within the initial quarter of the 16th century.
