Cactus pot with water reserve
thingiverse
I designed a pot for my cactus with a built-in water reserve underneath, the pot filled from below with a tailored water level so that the cactus doesn't get wet. Inside the cactus pots, there's a thick cord (like a basketball lace or jogging pants cord) that raises some water up to the roots. The water level in the tank can be seen from inside without having to remove the cactus; the roots draw as much water as they need from the cotton cords. I printed the design without support using the file I uploaded online, making only a small modification to my photo by removing the supports from the ground, flipping it over, and setting it at 45 degrees for printing without support with significant material savings. To seal the pot, I applied a layer of polyester resin to the bottom so that there wouldn't be any water leaks (using eco SOLOPLAST-type resin). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to print anything sufficiently waterproof using multiple tests without having to use an independent product. Don't hesitate to share photos of your creations; it gives me ideas for modifications and brings a smile to my face.
