Cactus (Plants Vs Zombies)

The Cactus is finally joining forces with other plants ready to defend my shelves against the incoming Zombie invasion, proudly standing alongside the Sunflower and the Peashooter. Chomper will be joining the fight soon! I sculpted the Cactus in ZBrush by creating its main body shape with ZSpheres before activating Radial Symmetry on the Y axis to craft the ridges around its body. I then employed the same technique to add spikes and flowers all over, carefully crafting each detail. Finally, I added face details, completing the model. I printed the Cactus out on my Wanhao D7 3D printer. Unfortunately, I made a mistake during the first print by not hollowing it out in time, which would have resulted in wasted resin and an incomplete print. However, I rectified this error by hollowing out the model and restarting the print. The second attempt turned out well. This project showcases the perfect application of SLA printing because sanding such a complex model with tiny spikes and flowers would be extremely challenging. My wife was able to paint it quickly due to the smooth surface left behind after printing. She began by applying primer, then used an airbrush for main colors before finishing with paintbrushes for intricate details.
