Cactus (Plants Vs Zombies)
thingiverse
Watch here: https://youtu.be/xbQJkHzL4nQ The Cactus is finally joining the ranks of plants ready to defend my shelves against the incoming Zombie invasion, standing proudly alongside the Sunflower and the Peashooter. Chomper will soon join the battle-ready team! I sculpted it in ZBrush using a combination of technique and tools. Starting with ZSpheres, I created the main body shape before turning on Radial Symmetry on the Y axis to craft the ridges around the body. Next, I applied the same strategy to add spikes and flowers all over. Finally, adding the face details brought the Cactus to life. I printed it out on my Wanhao D7. Unfortunately, my first attempt was flawed due to a crucial mistake: forgetting to hollow out the model. The consequences were severe - the printer ran out of resin, resulting in an expensive loss. Undeterred, I corrected my error and restarted the print job with the model properly hollowed out. The result was nothing short of remarkable. This is a perfect application for SLA technology, as this intricate model would be nearly impossible to sand properly due to its numerous spikes and flowers. Consequently, my wife's painting process was significantly simplified, requiring minimal sanding before she could start applying colors. She began with primer, followed by airbrushed main colors, and finished off with precision paintbrush details.
