Cabochon Stencils
thingiverse
These stencils represent standard sizes for round and oval cabochons, carefully crafted for display or jewelry settings. Typically prepared by initially cutting stones into shape, tracing desired shapes onto the stone, and then grinding away excess material to achieve the precise outline. These stencils serve as a tool in this process, allowing users to trace standardized shapes onto the stones with ease. Dimensions listed in millimeters correspond to the size of each round or oval shape. Users can edit the .scad file or utilize Customizer to add personalized text to one end of the stencil, such as their name or company logo. The stencils showcased were created for Westcoast Mining (http://www.wcmining.com/). The prints featured in the image were produced using ProtoParadigm Citrene and Aquamarine Gemstone PLA. This project is part of a series highlighted on http://www.protoparadigm.com/news-updates/what-to-do-with-a-3d-printer-make-lapidary-tools-and-accessories/. Print Settings: Notes: Be meticulous when adjusting bed height to ensure optimal results. If the first layer is too compressed, dimensions may be inaccurate and finishing touches will be required on the stencil. Conversely, if the first layer is not sufficiently compressed, it may not adhere properly, leading to a warped template. To minimize warping, low-warp materials are recommended.
