Cable Reel / Kabelspule
thingiverse
Hey, This is my first self-designed thing. It was born from the necessity to find a space-saving solution for storing my 16 and 22 AWG wires. Previously, I used spools made from toilet paper rolls, but they were too fragile and unsuitable for this application. I searched the Thingiverse for a wire reel or spool that fit the bill measurement-wise, but nothing worked. So, I designed one myself. Hope you'll all enjoy it! Specs are: - 70mm tire diameter (later: spool diameter) - 0.5 mm indent in the tire for centering of the core - 74mm core length - 75mm spool breadth (after assembly) - Infill pattern: Concentric I printed from ABS material, because it's going to be mounted in a sunny spot, where PLA probably would have warped too much or even partially melted. Assembly notes: After removing the rafts from all the parts, test-fit the core into the tire and remove material as needed. It is not required, but recommended to drill holes into the tire where needed to affix the wire in order to keep it from unwinding. Next, put a bit of superglue on the core and stick the pieces together. A one-hand clamp is recommended for an even force distribution across the parts while the superglue cures. If needed, you can resize the pieces to fit your needs. You are also welcome to post a remix this thing if you reference it in your version. Have fun printing!
