Cable Keeper
thingiverse
A cable keeper to keep your cord from slipping off your desk. This design features a removable cap that fits well with desks placed away from walls or windows. The cap can be short or long, chosen for aesthetic reasons alone. Some people prefer the look of the longer cap but it uses more plastic. I was inspired by remixing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:130495 because my desk doesn't have a wall next to it. However, upon closer inspection, the math involved in centering objects became confusing so I rewrote the code myself for easier understanding. Print Settings Printer Brand LulzBot Printer TAZ 6 Rafts No Supports No Resolution .4 Infill 20 Notes I primarily print these using ABS with "quick settings" because I don't care about a polished finish since my desk is already cluttered. Other materials or higher resolutions may require adjustments to the "Clearance" but this worked well for me. An example STL file has been uploaded, but the real value lies in customizing it for your specific desk. This design is OpenScad command line friendly: openscad -DMode=1 -DCable=3.5 -DTableHeight=25 -o CableKeeperBase-3.5-25.stl Cable-Keeper.scad Mode can output either the base, the cap, or both parts together.
