I love the original design, but unfortunately, I struggled to create a version that printed well without requiring extensive support structures. The process of digging out these supports was not only time-consuming but also ended up damaging the model itself. This revised design addresses all my concerns and offers several significant advantages: 1. It prints at an incredibly fast rate. 2. It requires significantly less plastic, making it a more eco-friendly option. 3. Most importantly, it no longer necessitates support structures for any printer, eliminating a major hassle. To achieve this improved design, I started with the original STL file and made some strategic modifications using OpenSCAD. Specifically, I cropped off about two centimeters from the bottom of the model, just enough to eliminate the larger overhangs that were causing issues. This simple adjustment allowed me to print the design on one side without any need for supports. While this revised design does lose some of its original pill shape, I believe the benefits far outweigh the visual changes. Not only is it a bit shorter, making it easier to fit into tight spaces, but it also offers several practical advantages that make it an attractive option for anyone looking for a hassle-free printing experience.
