Cable Chain Mod/Upgrade for Ender 3 v2 (E3V2)
thingiverse
# Description These parts are my enhanced/modified versions of parts needed for building out an Ender 3 v2 cable chain based on johnniewhiskie's original Ender 3 design. (This is a remix, but the thingiverse 'create' page remix search seems broken). #Parts - Base Mount Assembly: - Clip-on Base Mount w/ dovetail slots (1) - Chain start clip w/ dovetail (2) - Extruder Mount Assembly: - Hub (1) - Bracket/adapter (1) - Enhanced cable chain link (13 for Y, 21 for Z/Extruder) - Enhanced link cover (1) - Enhanced end link (1) - Enhanced u-clip, aka xend cover (4) Note: - The 'end link' terminates the Y Chain right before the stock Creality bed corner bracket that comes on the E3v2 #Details ##Base Mount The base mount is a two part assembly that allows for printing of each part with minimum or no supports. The clip-on base plate clips into the 4040 channel on the back-left of the E3v2 and creates a starting point for both the Z/X/Extruder cable bundle and the Y cables. The chain-start clips slide into the dovetail slots on the base plate. NOTE: Depending on the printer settings and first layer 'squish', the fit may be very tight and might require shaving the dovetail edges with a box cutter or similar. ##Extruder Mount The extruder mount is a modified version of the mount designed by wku_wake. This version is separated into two parts to allow for printing with no supports. The parts are joined by dovetail tabs and slots. I used super glue to secure the joint, which worked well. NOTE: The joint is designed to be tight with very little clearance; if the two parts won't fit together, the dovetail edges should be shaved down slightly with a box cutter or similar until a fit is achieved. ##Enhanced Parts The original cable chain link, link cover, xend, and u-clip (xend cover) had some unnecessary complexity in the geometry, so the versions included here have been modified for simpler geometry and enhanced strength. #Design Software and Models I designed and modeled these parts in SketchUp and exported to STL using the native STL exporter. The SketchUp files are included for reference or modification. I used mirrored components in the part designs for symmetric parts. Each part may have overlapping component volumes, but this doesn't seem to be an issue for the resulting STL (or at least Cura slices them just fine.) Check through layers in the files to see all parts. # Attribution The original designs I worked from are: [Ender 3 Cable Chain](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2920060) -johnniewhiskey [Ender 3 v2 attachment for bed and Z chains](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4565091) -wku_wake [Improved Cable Chain Angle Mount Ender 3 (Pro) (V1)](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3861540) -thecoolbull
